Yettel named Serbia’s most environmentally responsible company in 2023 by Kantar

Yettel was named the most environmentally responsible company in Serbia for 2023, according to research by the independent agency Kantar. The recognition covers all industries and is linked to a sustainability strategy built around four pillars: environment, people, technology, and transparency. The company said its approach is presented in an ESG report that highlights annual results on sustainable business practices and social responsibility.

Yettel’s sustainability efforts are described as aligned with the mission of the e& PPF Telecom Group, which focuses on providing accessible, high-quality solutions intended to improve people’s lives. Environmental protection is presented as a priority within that framework. The company also reported that its ESG materials include results related to environmental protection and social responsibility.

100% green network and renewable energy use

One of Yettel’s stated environmental achievements is a 100% green network, powered entirely by renewable energy sources. The company said it is also on track to meet a recycling target of one million devices by the end of 2023. Yettel further reported that it introduced paperless contract signing in partnership with Yettel Bank, aimed at reducing paper use and simplifying the customer process in stores.

Yettel’s ESG reporting includes a statement from Milica Begenišić, ESG Manager at Yettel, tying environmental protection to how the company operates across areas of its business. The company describes itself as a leading mobile operator committed to driving positive change.

Awards for network performance and digital user experience

Beyond environmental measures, Yettel reported that its network received “Best Network in the Test” from UMLAUT for a fifth consecutive year. UMLAUT is described as a global organization that evaluates mobile networks worldwide. Yettel also said it won a bronze award for “Best Digital User Experience” at the International Customer Experience Awards (iCEXA23).

The company connected the iCEXA23 result to an “innovative digital ecosystem” that includes services such as Yettel Petak, Yettel Shopping, Eco Bonus, and Green Paths. These services are presented as part of its digital offering within its customer experience reporting.

Digital inclusion initiatives and community support

Yettel also reported initiatives focused on an inclusive, diverse, and fair work environment. It cited its Talent Development Program and cooperation with UNICEF on projects including “Bridging the Digital Gap” and “Safe Net for the Whole Family.” The company said these efforts improved internet connectivity in schools and supported digital skills for students, teachers, and parents.

In addition to education-related activities, Yettel stated it continues to support the community through various humanitarian actions. The company’s reporting places these initiatives alongside its sustainability strategy pillars.

Scale of operations across Serbia

Yettel reported nearly three million users and over 2,000 employees across Serbia. It described its activities as spanning mobile telephony, cable television, and fixed internet services. Coverage is provided through more than 130 stores and via the Yettel app.
