Hydrogen Future Industries PLC has secured a licensing agreement valued at up to €2.25 million to expand and deploy its wind-based green hydrogen production systems in Ireland. The company said the deal supports Ireland’s efforts to advance renewable energy infrastructure, including hydrogen technologies.
HFI Ireland pilot project under a 20-year exclusive license
A newly established entity, HFI Ireland, will develop a pilot hydrogen production system. The framework provides for a 20-year license and grants the company exclusive rights for the duration of the agreement.
Over that period, the arrangement could contribute up to €2.25 million to the parent company. Hydrogen Future Industries PLC will hold a 30% equity stake in HFI Ireland, with an expected increase to 40% after an additional €1 million investment in the pilot project.
Western Ireland wind conditions and demand from data centers
Dan Maling, Chief Commercial Officer at HFI, said the company is addressing energy challenges linked to growing demand from data centers. He pointed to political momentum supporting renewable energy solutions and described hydrogen infrastructure as part of Ireland’s energy transition.
Maling added that western Ireland’s terrain and wind conditions are suitable for HFI’s smaller turbines. He said those turbines are intended to support renewable energy generation for data centers, industry, and agriculture.
Intellectual property focus and follow-on financing plans
Neil Ritson, Chairman of HFI, described the licensing deal as reflecting the value of the company’s intellectual property within the renewable energy sector. He said CEO Tim Blake has built relationships with industry players in Ireland over the past decade.
Ritson said he expects updates on specific project opportunities. He also referenced efforts to pursue new sources of non-dilutive financing.
