State Secretary Isidora Burić and Assistant Minister Dušan Radonjić from Serbia’s Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure took part in a Steering Committee meeting in Paris for the “Veliko selo” wastewater treatment plant project. The meeting was held with French collaboration as part of the project’s preparation process. Serbian officials attended alongside representatives connected to water and sewerage operations.
Steering committee role and agreement framework
The committee was set up after an agreement was signed between Serbia and the French company Suez during French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Serbia. According to the ministry, the committee’s main task is to prepare the documentation needed for a commercial contract between the French and Serbian sides. The Paris meeting focused on progressing this preparatory work for the next contractual stage.
Technology standards discussed for the new facility
During the meeting, participants confirmed that the planned facility will use the latest wastewater treatment technology. The project is described as meeting the highest European and global standards. The confirmation was part of the discussions held during the Steering Committee session in Paris.
Visit to Suez-managed plant in northern Paris
Before the Steering Committee meeting, the Serbian delegation toured a wastewater treatment plant managed by Suez in the Asher neighborhood of northern Paris. The plant is designed to serve five million residents. It is described as the largest in Europe and the second largest globally.
